Importing AOL filecabinet into Mail.app?

Just setup a new mini for a friend and they've been on AOheL... I cant seem to import the file cabinet into Mail.app... even if I try to fool Mail.app that the file cabinet is .mbox or .txt, it still doesn't want to import it. And there is no export function within AOL's app.

Any suggestions?

I dont believe you can transfer them easily this way. But you can setup their account via IMAP in the mail client.

Quick Info:
Incoming e-mail server address: imap.aol.com.
Outgoing e-mail server address: smtp.aol.com.
SMTP server port needs to be 587.

Then if they are dropping AOL for .Mac or aonther service, all you have to do is drag and drop the emails into the mail box of the new account, or make a folder for all the old AOL mail and keep it there.
