I have a Sony Handycam DCR DVD301 and I am trying to import the footage from the mini DVD's. I connected the camera using USB (i see no port for firewire) and my MBP would not recognize the camera. It only said that I have inserted a blank DVD. I even tried hooking it up to a PC at work and still the camera could not be recognized. I want to get the footage to edit in Adobe Premier. If someone could let me know how to import the footage that would be great!

Thanks

A miniDVD is a DVD. If you have a Mac with a tray-loading optical drive, then use your usual tools for ripping DVDs. Handbrake is popular.

I load them on a PC, copy the video_ts folder over then copy that to a stick and sally forth to my iMac and use MPEG Streamclip in the usual manner.
