hey so im trying to import text from photoshop and i am running into issues. If I import using a psd file it takes away the special effect stuff from the text and just leaves font and color. if I import as a .jpeg their is a solid white background. I need this text to go over an image, is their a different file I should export it as or what?

Like LeathalWolfe, I usually use uncompressed TIFFs, but if you need to manipulate the individual layers of a PSD file, you'll need to rasterize any text or shape layers in Photoshop in order for the layer styles to come through.

It's a little bit vague (I don't know it myself very well) but you can right/control click on the clip and somewhere there should be some ways to show the picture. Many of them will do weird things, but there is one that will remove the white, or black, I can't remember.

I know, it's probably useless, but who knows.
