I have a new iMac. I have a cloned external drive from my MacBook Pro I just sold. How can I import my iMovie projects and my iPhoto folders/pictures to my iMac so they will basically be "right where I left them"?

If you haven't set up the new computer yet, just use Migration Assistant (will offer to transfer "From another drive" during the setup process). That will move the whole user account over, plus applications and other files, but you can tell it not to transfer some of it if you'd prefer too.

If you've already set it up, then just drag the contents of the Pictures and Movies folders to the new computer before you launch either iPhoto or iMovie. The libraries will transfer in place, and as long as you hadn't renamed them on the old computer from their defaults, iPhoto and iMovie will just go ahead and launch and use those libraries without any problems.
