importing movie to be edited by iMovie

Hi, was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers.

I have a DVD handicam which I make home movies on, all movies have been transfered onto my DVD/Hard drive recorder which is connected to the TV. I have burned files from the Hard drive to DVD, but when I put the disc into my iMac I can't seem to import the movies for editing. The format is VTS-01-VOB, the load file screen shows the file but wont let me select it for importing.

How can I get these files off my DVD/Hard drive player and into the iMac so I can edit and reburn them? :confused:
