Importing Paragraph Styles in Pages?

Is it possible? Am I meant to use templates instead?

I've already written my document; I want to apply a paragraph style to it. Is it possible to import or save styles without using templates?

Templates seems a bit of an odd way to do it given I don't want any text in my new document.
