Importing pictures taking WAAY too long

Hey guys. Just bought the macbook base aluminum model saturday. I have a dvd that I saved from my old mac with 6,000 pictures. I used iphoto to import them. After over 9 hours there was still 4500 pics left to be imported.

The total size of all the pics is 1.5 gigs.

Any idea why this is taking so long or if there is another way to do this?

Maybe try dragging them all to a folder on the desktop first and then importing them into iPhoto from there.

Hey, thanks for the response. I tried that, was taking just as long. Makes no sense to me.. its only 1.5 gigs

What type of DVD is it... Maybe the superdrive acts super slow with a special dvd type, like I don't know Dual Layer - RW discs...
