importing to imovie makes my clip darker

all of my videos are getting darker after importing to imovie

this clip is in low light situation. face is not recognizable and it is totally dark

Once you import the clip, click on the little "pie chart" button in the middle of the screen. That will bring up the Video Adjustments window. Go the the "Exposure" slider and slide it a little to the right... that should fix your brightness problem. If that doesn't fix it alone, try some of the other sliders there.
