Importing to iPhoto

Leopard was crashing every 20 min, I think it was linked to time machine. So I exported my iPhoto library to a external drive. After reinstalling everything on a reformatted drive I can't import the exported file. I can see it but it is grayed out in the import file selection box.

I hope I haven't lost all my photo's.:confused:
