I've just sold my 2006 MacBook Pro - as with all Macs I sell, after wiping the HDD in Disk Utility, I then perform a fresh install (in this case Snow Leopard), set up a generic user with a unique password then run updates.
This time however, the buyer is asking me for my original password as he says I'm still the admin user...how on Earth is this possible after a disk format and fresh install?

Sounds weird. Perhaps the new user has got his terminology mixed up and really means something else. Is this definitely at the login screen? Can he send you a screenshot?

The only thing I can think of is some kind of iCloud thing e.g. Find Your Mac is still turned on or something. What OS was on it before?

When I sell Macs, I just Cmd+Q when the installer gets to the user set-up stuff. They can create their own accounts and run Software Update - it's not asking too much.

It was previously on Snow Leopard - no iCloud sync etc. I like to do the full setup as a final test - just to make sure the install is working ok.
He said he was in the User Account prefs - I did ask him to send me a screenshot - he then replied, "it's ok now" so I'm non the wiser as to what occurred - whether he'd misunderstood something or simply not typed the new password correctly.

I'd say it's both :D
[doublepost=1533676303][/doublepost]Even if it were your password - it's way too easy to reset it in OS X, I dare say it's faster to set a new password than to write the seller

I just didn't want to hand over my personal password...either way, he seems to have fathomed things out.
