My 2015 MacBook Pro 15 2.5 + AMD gets 893/3,139/10,081 on Geekbench 5. The 2020 i7 gets 1,225/4,511/9,449. (Single-Core/Multi-Core/OpenCL). That's a lot of horsepower in a small package. Apple could just add a 14 inch and it would be great for portability. Those with 15s can really consider the 13 for heavy office-type work.

Many co-workers working from home have been complaining about Zoom performance on our 2015 MacBook Pro 13s. They have the highest specs but it's still dual-core. I use my personal 2015 MacBook Pro 15 for work and have no problems. These new 2020s will take care of the performance issues. We have a five-year cycle so I should be do for a refresh either this year or next year. They aren't happening right now because of the pandemic but I would actually expect to see a lot of corporate purchases of MacBook Pros when offices open back up.

My 2015 MBP 15 2.5 that I’ve had for about three years died last month (dGPU failure), and i‘m looking to purchase the 2020 13 i7. The benchmarks are indeed amazing, but I wonder how it translates into real world performance though.

I haven't tried one to see - I wouldn't even know where to go to try one out right now.

There are probably others that have gone to the 13 from the 15 (2014, 2015, 2016) and may be able to help. You're getting faster ddr4 RAM as opposed to ddr3l in the 2015 and I'd guess that the SSD is faster.

Yeah, it should be a noticeable improvement over my 2015. The key thing for me is the lack of dGPU which is one less thing to worry about failing. Do you think the 32GB of RAM is worth it for your workload?

I would go for 32 GB but I like to keep my systems for ten years. I actually haven't heard of the 2015 AMD GPU failing. I think that you're the first I've seen report it. There definitely are some notorious years for dGPUs.
