Might only seem like a small benefit to some, but was really surprised when after my pool training session today, I found that my watch now recorded kick board lengths. Watches don't do that! Even my Fenix 6 never recorded kick board lengths. Now it does. Great. No more manual entries to starvations logging those missing lengths.

Was surprised after the update that the crown is pushed to turn off water block but like it as its easier w/ wet hands vs. twisting the crown.

I was under the impression that the workout app now recorded swolf score but I went for an open water swim the other day and nothing, is it just for the pool?
Note that both Strava and Healthfit provide this data and have done for years so the watch is logging it just not the native app??

Yeah that surprised me as well! I thought there was something mechanical happening to eject water by rotating the crown. I guess pushing accomplishes the same thing, assuming ”ejecting water” is actually a thing?

Back in the pool today, stopped the lap counter func & then accidentally swiped the watch to the days activity rings, wet ***** fingers. Determined what happened & swiped back to my swim log face, so have we always had the day's activity rings progress available to view during swimming or did WOS9 give us that?

That’s new in watchOS 9—it’s an alternate view if you turn the crown, so if you’re like me you’ll see it a lot thanks to muscle memory for deactivating water lock.

By the way, is there anything different about your swim metrics screen? All that changed for mine was the text size got smaller, which seems disappointingly unimproved.

Feel better X2 after your reply, thought it was just me as I'm also accustomed to the water purge twist w/ the crown. That said I didn't notice a text size change but only 2 swims since the update so will pay more attn. Sun & advise after.

I find the push 10x better. For me the crown twisting was a pita with wet hands, also when half asleep coming out of sleep mode to check something it was quite an aggressive action to perform when drowsy

Re. wet hands/PITA totally agree, also w/ the muscle mem. I'm now correcting.

I like the swim logging too. It was okay before, now the ”SWOLF” and other data is like my Autosleep app in terms of way more info than I understand. That’s cool about kickboards, I’ll have to try it out. I wonder if I can pretend I have one and just kick for a few laps…

I had to restore my watch from backup after it got stuck between iPhones yesterday, and now my swim metrics—which I’d previously set to show heart rate—are back to calorie counts. Have you, or anyone else, happened across the preferences menu to customize what’s displayed during workouts? I can’t seem to find it in watchOS 9…

Tried the “kickboard” stroke today with my imaginary board. The watch detected my efforts and logged it with my other regular swim strokes, pretty cool! Feeling a bit sore now, good reminder that I should do that more often. Even 2-3 laps makes a difference!
