Hello all - I am currently working my way through the book 'After Steve' by Tripp Mickle, and have just reached a story about the fate of designer Imran Chaudhri, who spent two full decades at Apple making important contributions as a software and UI designer. According to the book, however, he was ignominiously fired by design big cheese Alan Dye after Chaudhri had handed in his notice, just weeks before his scheduled final day. Apparently Dye and Jony Ive didn't like the tone of an email he sent to other members of the design team announcing his departure. The firing meant he was unable to cash in his very valuable stock options. What an inglorious end to two decades at the Cupertino behemoth! That can't have been easy to deal with. Curiously, however, if you Google Chaudri's name, you find that he has now started a mysterious software firm called Humane with his wife, another former Apple employee, and their website positively bristles with references to Apple and their achievements while there - so clearly he has recovered from the debacle and/ or he and his wife are milking their time in Infinite Loop for all its worth. What exactly Humane working on is less than clear - there's a touch of vapourware about it
