Ok so I still have anger management issues. After chucking my iphone 3g into a tree and badly damaging it , I tried turning the thing on and the screen only showed grey and white stripes , lines, whatever you wanna call them. I read some articles and spoke to tech support at an iphone repair website, leading me to believe that I needed to replace the lcd unit. I then got on ebay and ordered one. I somewhat successfully replaced it. The only problem is that when I tried disconnecting wire ribbon 3 ( the light sensor I believe ) connector latch broke along with a couple of the gold colored pins. I also rebooted the device, mind you. After the lcd was replaced, guess what! The screen is still displaying the white gray bars . URRRGGGHHH!!!! Someone please tell me what to do before I go through the trouble of ordering the wire 3 connector and soldering it onto the board. Please help an ill-tempered fool.... Thanks

I could not get that connector back in either when I had to replace the plastic back on my old phone. I ended up trying to push it in with a tiny flat head screw driver and punched a hole in in. I connected the rest of the connectors though and everything worked except the vibrate/sound switch and the lock button. Anyway... I got a new phone after that incident. I guess the only thing I can suggest is to take it to a third party (non Apple) repair shop or buy a new phone. The 3GS 8 GB is only $99 with a contract.

Throw it against the tree again.

This suggestions deserves a token "lol". Good one ;). Reminds me of the recent thread whereby someone inadvertently shot their iPhone w/a BB gun.

OP: Sorry 'bout your 'accident' -- maybe there's an iPhone 12-step program in your area? Just a thought before you fork out any more money.

get your life together and get off the Internet

the fact that you are seeking acknowledgement from anonymous strangers online for your actions is a bit concerning

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

What could possibly get you that mad???

SanteriaScott, I recommend this case the next time you practice "Santeria" w/ your iPhone: :p

First off, I would strongly consider seeing someone about your anger mangement issues.

Secondly, you would probably be better off at this point at picking up a used iPhone on eBay (or maybe a dumb phone would be a better idea).

Lastly, I would strongly recommend you don't throw your phone again to avoid this exact situation.

Buy a new phone, if you're thinking of soldering things back on to your old one ... just sayin.
