With the announcement of in-app purchases in the OS X Lion Mac App Store, do we think that Apple is going to start charging for app upgrades such as the iWork or iLife applications? I want to buy Pages now, but I'm afraid that they're going to release a paid upgrade to Pages alongside the release of Lion.

Thoughts?

At the moment all updates are free, and actually there is no way to get money for update via in-app purchases.
And the same situation is for iOS applications.
They will focus on getting money for iCloud, I assume, not for updates.

I think it's unlikely they'll start charging for minor updates, and they already charge full price for major updates, so I don't see it changing anything. Hopefully the in-app purchasing won't turn into a tide of charges for tiny extras (like on a lot of iOS applications), and developers will use it more for software upgrade discounts.
