How come no one has showed this off yet? Or does, probably, the App need to be updated to include this?

All it does is allow the app to display the SMS compose window, just like they can currently display the mail compose window. It does not allow for in-app reading of SMS, replying to SMS or anything else.
And yes, the app has to be updated
