In call volume rocker not responding unless device is held away from ear

When on a phone call and the iPhone held against my ear. I can’t adjust the call volume unless I place the iPhone away from ear so that the proximity sensor comes on. Else it won’t do anything. iPhone 14 PM.

I should stop reading the forums ... I have the exact same issue once I tried it (I just got my new iPhone 14 tonight, so had no other calles yet). I hope they will fix it in an update soon. I mean come on... such basic functionality.
