I'm totally in love with the 13" Mac Book Pro. It represents everything I want in a laptop BUT I need it to play Sims 3 occasionally. I'm no longer a hard core gamer so most of my daily uses consist of the usual activities such as internet browsing, music, movies, youtube, photoshop, corel painter. I only need to play this one game occasionally. Is this possible with the HD 3000 on medium settings?

The next bump up for me would be a base model 15 inch I suppose, but I'm not happy with the size of it.

Please help a lady out by advising me. Thanks

Well I've never played Sims 3, but I have played Half Life 2, Counter Strike: Source, and Team Fortress 2 on my 13" (2011), and the HD 3000 does just fine. It won't run very nicely on all high/maxed settings, but medium/high is just fine (an enjoyable gaming experience, as far as performance).

The 13 seems to have ample power

Sims 3 system requirements
Mac OS X 10.5.7 Leopard or higher
Intel Core Duo Processor 2011 has i5 or 17
2 GB RAM 2011 13 mbp comes with 4GB
ATI X1600 or Nvidia 7300 GT with 128 MB of Video RAM, or Intel Integrated GMA X3100. 2011 13 mbp shares 384MB

Thank you all for the replies and the info. This will be my first Macbook Pro so I'm pretty excited about it. Hopefully I'll be able to pick one up this weekend.

I have the 2011 13 i5 mbp.
Microcenter, I believe is, running a special.
2011 13 i5 for $999. (just to clarify its not the white macbook)
Some microcenters will ship.

Of course it will play Half Life 2, Half Life 2 plays great on a netbook with Nvidia Ion 2 gfx at medium to high

To OP, it will definitely play well.
