I was looking through email and accidentally tapped E on the keyboard. It went to an email 2 days ago from the same company (they sent some promotional weekend thing and I'm looking to buy from them). I pressed it again and it jumped to another email from 5/31, different company. Another time and it goes to one from 4/17 USPS. next time 4/7 for Whataburger. It doesn't look like it's going a certain number of emails down.

Anyone have ideas?

I was in the message list, middle section of the window.

I'm on macOS 14.1.2.

I checked through the menus and didn't notice anything. Most of them were a combination of ⌘ and a letter.

That's type select. Almost every app on Mac (that was coded by someone who cares a bit about macOS conventions) will select the row in a table view that begins with the text you are writing.

So if you write "B" it will select the first email in which the sender name begins with "B", if you type "Bob" the first email from Bob, etc…
