Hi all,

I'm having an issue with my Mail for Mac program.

I have the 'Check New Mail' option set to manual in preferences. When I only had my AOL mail account in this program, it worked great - new e-mails only got pushed through when I clicked Get New Messages.

Now, I've added a Gmail account, and it seems to override the manual setting. The two e-mail accounts act differentially: AOL still requires the manual click to retrieve new e-mails, while Gmail messages get pushed through automatically.

In the Preferences->Accounts setting, both accounts have 'Include when automatically checking for new messages' unchecked, and they're both IMAPs.

I'm using Mail Version 7.3 (1878.6) on Mac OS X 10.9.4.

Any assistance would be happily received!

Do you have the Mail>Preferences>Accounts>Advanced>"Use IDLE command if the server supports it" option selected for the Gmail account? Try unselecting that option if so.
