I started getting this error in the system log about 24 hrs into my fresh Leopard Xserve installation. Then, I got a pop up message saying INCONSISTENT SYSTEM FILES, try resetting your boot drive in system preferences (???).

It seems I got this warning right before all this started happening:

Jun 30 12:50:19 inn kextd20296: WARNING: mkext unexpectedly out of date w/rt Extensions folder
Jun 30 12:50:25 inn kextd20296: kernel freed its link data; trying on-disk kernel file (/mach_kernel)
Jun 30 12:50:25 inn kextd20296: in-memory mkext doesn't match on-disk mkext; non-boot kexts won't be loaded

Is this anything serious that I should be concerned about? I have not tried to reboot the server, I am a little bit afraid. How to fix it?

I am running RAID 1 Mirror (software) if this is related in any way.

A reboot should fix this I believe. Maybe rebuild your extensions.mkext.

Knock on wood, you may have been right! I've rebooted thanks to a boost of confidence, and things have been working problem-free for the last 10 minutes (isn't that pathetic? LOL). Which hopefully is a sign this problem did indeed require a reboot (haven't done one since the clean install a week ago).
