When i bought my iBook i did not get a combo drive in it because i couldnt afford it. So I figured I would get an external combo drive when I had the cash, but that is seeming harder than it seems. I looked at the MCE Technology's combo drive but really cant afford it (the exchange rate kills me). So i was thinking about getting a firewire drive enclosure and a combo drive from a pc because thats more in my price range. Since i already have a copy of toast could this theoraticly work?

Any input would be appreciated.

(excuse the spelling and grammar, its too damn early in the morning)

Ok first of all look at what you have around and look at what you can get for cheap. I bought a firewrie enclosure off ebay for 50 bucks and a hard drive for $60 so I would have an 80GB external drive for backup purposes.

I would suggest you do the same if
a) you have an extra ide burner lying around.
b) you find a good deal on an ide drive that is finder and ituens compatible.

This is my suggestion it works for me and allows expandiblity( In my setup I can add a burner later on if I want and just swap it)
