I need to restore my iPhone completely. I had saved my SHSH with tiny umbrella and preserved my 1.59.00 baseband. I don't want that baseband anymore and want the one that is supposed to go with the 4.1 update I believe the 2.10.04. How do I go about doing that? Thanks. Also I know I won't be able to unlock the phone but that doesn't matter to me.

First, there is no benefit, at least nothing concrete, in 'upgrading' the baseband. But I could be wrong on this, so take it with a grain of salt.

To do what you wish, simply update via iTunes.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

The reason is I have to take my phone into the apple store for them to look at it. Some people said they like to make sure your havent done anything to your phone and I dont want to take a chance of messing up my warrenty. And I had closed out of tinyumbrella and restored the phone but it still came up with 1.59.00. Am I not closing out of it completely or something? Thanks.

Windows.

I restarted my computer then tried it again but still came up with the error message and has 1.59.00 on it. Any other ideas?

You have to edit your host file and remove the entry added by Tiny Umbrella.

Did you edit your host file in the past to redirect to TinyUmbrella's server instead of apples?

I discovered TU does this automatically. No need to do it manually, at least on my Windows7 netbook. So, the OP will have to remove it manually.

Can you explain to me how to do this please. Thanks.

1. Use Windows Explorer to go to c:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc
2. Open the hosts file with Notepad
3. Find the line that contains gs.apple.com (I think this is the name) - I think the IP address on this line stars with a 78? I don't have my netbook with me.
4. Put a # at the beginning of the line which turns it into a comment.

Ok, I did that. What's next?

It still didn't work. But when I went to go add the # to the beginning of the one line it was already there. What does that mean and do you have any other options on what to do?

Edit: Actually I forgot to save the hosts file before I did the restore but after when I went to go save it, its telling me I cannot save it. But Also there is a hosts.umbrella file the has the # sign in front of the gs.apple.com line.

Edit number 2: I had to go into the properties and give my self the ability to modify it and I was able to add the # and save it. I have to leave for class in like 15 minutes but I'll be home later to see if it works. Thanks for all the help and if I have anymore problems I will be asking.

I got caught up in things after school yesterday and just got around to trying what you told me to do and it work perfectly. I am running on firmware 02.10.04. Thanks again, I appreciate all the help.
