I’ve done various reinstalls of iOS 14.5/6 recently and the one thing that did ameliorate *some* performance deficits was removing AdBlock Pro which is egregious in it’s perf. hit -

Yet the frame rates still dropped frequently and it felt like the CPU was constantly boosting and throttling (literally the warmth was tangible!) as if the animation behavior inherent to the main thread even on the home page was too intensive or poorly-programmed (maybe too much speculative caching and leaky graphics drivers?).
Not so anymore, with the most recent iOS 15 Beta - however surprisingly. Latency feels qualitatively different as though they added more acceleration to scrolling? I love it either way, feels much more natural and less effortful. Plausibly it’s just fixing memory &GPU bugs, I suppose. Additionally, app launches maybe slightly improved and tiny stutters upon closing seem to have improved as have stutters when closing the Music app’s now playing tab to browse. Stuff like that was irritating!

Anyways: Sa is just so goddamn sn- ok, sorry. Safari’s toolbar is a joy to use one handed and I have 0 issues with the animations, the interface feels like it’s coming along and is easy on the eyes unlike the horrid ******** on Mac OS. Ability to hide favorites/change wallpapers is awesome too, the former can cause slowdowns loading those on every new tab IME.

Weather: Really no complaints. Pretty much a very good, typical Apple style stock app that I believe is fine receiving 60-70% of their horsepower, fine to allow some third-parties room to grow in that.

One final thing: did they change colors or color oscillations in OLED panels just ever so slightly (e.g. more smearing or less and more pure blacks?) with this update? I cannot be 100% sure but we know they’ve done this **** before and I can discern a different hue irrespective of wallpapers and what have you recently. Could be a bug too I suppose.
Either way I like this update, I just wish they’d focus more on these fundamentals of user experience like framerates, maps, Safari, and less on emulating a cop TV-theatric with universal control geekery or iCloud TV downloading in the background, lol.
