I usually do an in store trade in when purchasing a new phone. This year I bought my phone online an opted for the send away trade to Bright Star. What is you experience with them?

So far, so good! You might want to make a video to document the fact you’re putting an intact phone in good shape into the box and sealing it. Samsung advises that customers do that for their trade ins. (I’ve done mail in trade in’s with Google, Samsung and Apple and all have gone well so far).

Did you get the promised trade in amount applied to your credit card?

You get an Apple Card for your old phones value to use at their store.
That sucks. I was led to believe my cc would be credited. Think I will return the phone today for a do over. I want the $500 trade in value to come off the purchase of the new phone.

My first time doing trade in via mail. Waiting for the return box from Phobio to be mailed to me.

No you will get it applied to the card used unless you used a payment plan, it states it in writing right there, they probably didn't buy it outright...

It’s the phrase “if everything checks out” that concerns me. I’ve read some people’s negative experiences with trade-in by mail (not getting value promised, getting Apple gift card in place of cc credit, losing device). I went back to the Apple store and expressed my concerns related to trade-in by mail. They were able to credit my credit card on the spot. Glad I don’t have to deal with it now.

I was able to get my on line (pick up in store) credit card purchase refund with my trade in at the Apple Store. For those that are curious here is what they look at:

--Are all of the following statements true?
- Display is free from cracks, shatter, separation, and is responsive to touch (Single chip in the touchscreen area ok)
- Touch ID/Face ID works properly
- Rear enclosure is present, free from etching, and any dents are smaller than 5mm
- Battery is not swollen
- Camera is fully functional
- Wifi works properly

Yes

--Are two or more of the following statements true?
- Display is cracked or shattered or not responsive to touch
- Touch ID/Face ID does not work
- Camera glass is cracked/missing and/or cannot take a photo without obstruction - Wifi is not working

No

Honesty, they did not even look closely at my trade it nor do any diagnostic, she simply took my CC i used and refunded me the credit amount of $600 (Xs Max 64GB). I had scratches both on the screen and back glass(not large though) but YMMV...

What happens if you change your mind and don't want to trade it in (my sister is visiting and wants my 8+)?

I haven't received the box yet, so I don't have contact info.
