I'm typing on the 3gs right now. My god this thing is like a bullet! I was iffy on getting it, but I'm 100% sold now. I'm on the cell network and it feels like I'm on wifi. All I can say is wow. :eek:

Not sure exactly, but people are still walking out with them so I'm assuming they're still in stock.

your in the apple store i am going to go out on a limb and say that you are 100% connected to the instore WIFI .

in some areas it does. AT&T increased their 3G speeds in some cities, and the iPhone 3Gs can take advantage of these speeds.

3G

Cellular and wireless

* UMTS/HSDPA (850, 1900, 2100 MHz)
* GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
* Wi-Fi (802.11b/g)
* Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR

3G S

Cellular and wireless

* UMTS/HSDPA (850, 1900, 2100 MHz)
* GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
* Wi-Fi (802.11b/g)
* Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR

Again, it's a misconception. There isn't improvement in network connectivity, this isn't an upgrade from Edge to 3G.

Actually, a majority of the load time was just safari rendering the page. Since the processor has been sped up quite a bit...Safari is rendering the web pages faster.

All you're showing is what frequencies it supports on UMTS/HSDPA, GSM/EDGE, etc. This does not mention the new radio in the 3GS that does support 7.2 Mb (where available). A better radio can increase your performance, not to mention processor and memory bumps...

You are posting specs of the phone.. not AT&T's wireless speeds.

That sounds quite plausible. They did show that javascript chart at wwdc that showed rendering improvements over the 3G

No, it's not EDGE to 3 G, it's 3G 3.2 Mbs to 7.5Mbs. That's a pretty big difference. I realize it's not out in all areas yet, but it is coming.

Where's the documentation showing this upgrade? I am speaking in terms of network connectivity alone.

Edit: nevermind, I found the documentation.

iPhone 3GS will do 7.2M 3G and it's predecessor only does 3.6

Most cities don't have 7.2 installed yet though.

Ding ding ding. We have a winner.

Did NO ONE else here watch the review videos that showed the 3GS killing the 3G in web loading times on the same wifi connection?

Come on, people. This has been well documented. I can't believe the OP is getting beat up over something that was proven a couple of days ago!

YES, the 3GS loads web sites faster, even when the connection speed is the same.

Nope, not a misconception at all... I compared it to my moms 3g in the same place, and the 3gs was faster without a doubt. I do believe it's due to processor speed.
