My girlfriend has an iPhone 6S that is barely holding up. She purchased a refurbished iPhone 8 listed to be in ‘excellent’ condition from a highly rated seller on eBay.

When the iPhone 8 arrived it was obvious the screen was aftermarket and there was no water resistant seal on the device at all, not to mention the phone quickly dying despite the battery setting stating it was at 100%.

Apple has done a very good job of convincing people that their phones should only be purchased through them.

my gf has since returned the iPhone 8 back to eBay and is using her slow iPhone 6S until she can get a better newer phone.

The Apple refurbished shop has iPhone 8 64GB for $350. However I know Apple is currently selling the iPhone SE 2nd Gen 64GB for $399 and figured that’s the better option of the two. She really does prefer having a home button as oppose to FaceID.

Anyhow, before I bite the bullet and make the purchase for her am wondering if there may be some other Avenue or store or sale I may have overlooked as to where I can purchase a new sealed iPhone SE 64GB, or 128GB if the sale is worth.

Surely I can’t be the only one scouring for an iPhone deal.

No thank you, she’s set on having a home button. The newer, buttonless phones don’t appeal to her.

Haha I understand that. I was the same way at first but now I love my XR and am glad I don’t have the home button
I'm willing to give up the home button for the new iPhone 12 mini. I absolutely love that size and I love that its essentially the same screen size as my current iPhone 8 Plus screen.

But I'm holding out on getting the new 12 Mini in hopes that the new iPhone's later this year have ProMotion.

best place = your local craigslist.org
seller and buyer both meet up at the local genus bar. If the buyer (via the genus bar) can get the phone to work pay the seller.

if the buyer is going for the long run buy a 5G compatable iPhone12 mini

Walmart has really excellent deals on the iPhone SE (2020) on a variety of networks including AT&T, Verizon, and a bunch of smaller carriers:
On both AT&T and Verizon, it works out to a $150 total cost ($5/mo for 30 on AT&T, $6.21/mo for 24 on Verizon). For a number of months after the device came out, you could also pay off the phone with no penalty, so it wasn't even really a contract, just a straight discount. Not sure if that's still the case, but you should check it out.

Whoa. I’m checking out the deal you linked and it seems almost too good to be true.

$150 for a 64gb iPhone se 2nd Gen?
Do we have to pay the $6.21 a month for 24 months no exception or can I just walk into a Verizon store and pay it off completely?

Just spend the extra $50 on the SE.

No brainer.

Only downside is the fast processor means short battery relative to bigger phones.

I used this deal for my father in law to upgrade his 6 last year, and it's legit. You have to make one month's payment and then you can pay the whole thing off with no penalty. So basically pay tax up front, then wait 30 days and pay $6.21 one time, then do a lump sum payment for the balance either online or in a Verizon store, and then you own the phone free and clear with no further obligation or contract.

BUT just to reiterate, I don't know for certain whether that deal has changed at all since last year. It looks the same on the Walmart website, but definitely read the fine print about early payoff and make sure they still allow it with no penalty.

If it's the same as before, it's the best value in iPhones anywhere right now, in my opinion.

I just visited the Verizon store and also Walmart.

Turns out that although the deal is legit, my particular Verizon plan would need to be upgraded away from my current Stellar one. I’ve had an complete Unlimited Verizon plan since 2004 and have 100% unlimited data, including unlimited hotspot without any throttling. And considering I live in a rural part of town, my Verizon data is many times faster than my home WiFi.

If I did upgrade to this Walmart iPhone SE then the cool thing is my Verizon bill would go down by $40 but my unlimited data goes away down to 2Gb-5gb a month. Currently I’m using at least 200GBs a month on just 1 iPhone (of 5 total on my account)

cant do it, won’t do it, will have to buy an iPhone outright.

Just got a new SE (2020) and my carrier was cheaper than .
Put nothing down, traded in my iPhone 7 and it only added $10 + taxes on my monthly bill.
