I have a Series 4. Last year when I updated to watchOS 7.0 I was affected by the GPS tracking bug and eventually unpaired, reset and re-setup my Watch from it’s backup as per the since-deleted support document Apple shared.
Since doing that my Watch has recorded wildly inaccurate health and fitness data:
Since doing that my Watch has recorded wildly inaccurate health and fitness data:
- My daily activity goal of 600 calories, which I would typically reach after a regular workday with about an hour of exercise, I suddenly started to achieve before lunch.
- My elevation readings are insane - while on hikes with my friends (one with a Series 3, the other with a Series 5, both at a similar level of fitness as me) their watches will record ~100m elevation gain while mine records ~350m.
- And stand detection is very poor. I happened to buy a standing desk a few weeks before resetting my Watch and initially my Watch detected my extra time standing just fine, but since the reset my Watch is detecting less standing than before I bought the standing desk. I’ve attached a screenshot from my Activity app showing an increase in standing minutes when I bought my desk and the new/current lower readings.
- Re-calibrating my Watch as per this support document
- Unpaired and erased my Watch again with watchOS 7.3 without restoring a backup, and re-calibrated again.
