While on the computer this evening I noticed something that I hadn't thought of before. What I noticed is that the finder toolbar uses icons only and the preview toolbar uses icons and text. I was wondering if that how they appear by default or at some point in the past did I inadvertently alter the settings.

Personally I think the finder toolbar looks a bit wrong if I add text to the icons and vice versa for the preview toolbar. It may be that I have grown accustomed to them being in that setting, but that is why I am posing the question in this post.

Yes i believe this is correct at least in Snow Leopard (though im not on my mac currently) In Lion/ ML I think its icons only. You can customize them by going to view> customize toolbar. The reason preview had text is because of the various editing buttons. I personally just use icons only to save a little screen space ;)
