I am looking to start creating Apps with the InApp functionality and am at the beginning of the process. I do have a few questions and would appreciate any input given.

Are there two types of InApp purchases one where the Apps all exist on the Apple servers and can be downloaded through iTunes, the other where InApp purchases where the Apps reside on our local server.

I am asking this because currently we place Apps in Itunes that contain a videos, audios, images, links etc and we simple change content to make a new App, but recently we were asked to stop doing things this ways and to convert over to InApp purchases to purchase new content. The confusing thing to me is where these new Apps exist? If they are on the Apple servers(iTunes) then how are they different from regular Apps and how do they get there outside of the normal process for creating Apps.

Maybe someone can clarify this for me or point me to the right link to get this information clearly detailed.

The way I currently see things is this way if someone could calrify some of my misconceptions it would be great.

A basic App that meets Apples minimum functional requirements to exist outright is created and accepted by Apple for sale in Itunes. In this App there is functionality for an InApp purchase of new content(ie new video or audio files) After an InApp purchase of a new video is made the App then shows two videos available for viewing.

I guess my question restated is if they are stored with Apple how is the video uploaded to Apple and how is it different from a regular App...how is this new video classified in Itunes
