The Wireless Presenter from Inateck is a simple product designed to do one job well and right off the bat I can tell you that it does. If you want to be mobile while going through a presentation then this could be for you.
Included in the box is the presenter itself and the user guide. The presenter has a small candy bar design with the main navigation buttons on top taking care of stepping forwards or backwards through your slideshow. Sandwiched between these two buttons is one to activate the laser pointer. Holding this down shines a piercing red dot where you point the presenter which is a great feature for highlighting items on the presentation or for teasing your pet cat when the slideshow is over.
On the left side is the power switch and on the right are tab and enter buttons for navigating and activating links. The device is powered by a single AAA battery which should last well provided you use the laser function sparingly.
The presenter connects to your computer via the supplied tiny USB wireless dongle and this is tucked away safely inside the presenter when not in use. The presenter acts as a wireless keyboard to the computer so no additional drivers or software are required.
I tested this on both a MacBook using Keynote and a Windows 7 laptop running PowerPoint. Performance in all tests was flawless with the presenter never skipping a beat and slides advancing instantly at the tap of a button. I also tested out the web version of Keynote in iCloud on the Windows laptop and the presenter worked exactly as expected. One thing to point out is that link navigation and activation is not supported with Keynote, both in the standalone app as well as the iCloud version but this is a limitation of the application and how keys are mapped and this is mentioned in the user guide. PowerPoint does not have this limitation but otherwise, functionality remained the same between the applications.
As I said at the start of the review, this does one job and does it well and comes highly recommended for those looking for a remote control that offers the tactile feedback that a mobile remote app cannot offer. The laser pointer rounds out the package and adds value to what is a solid performer.
