I've been having a persistent problem on my MacBook (OS 10.5.8) in Mail.

In my outbox constantly remains one or more messages from my inbox. The 'new message' icon continuously indicates that this message is there (while this logo should not appear at the outbox in any circumstance at all).

I can drag or "Move to - (the appropriate mailbox)" and the message will disappear from the outbox but the 'new message' icon remains.

As soon as I switch to another mail box and go back to my Outbox there's a new random message waiting for me. Occasionally this is a new message, but when I start moving them to the Inbox, mail picks a random one to replace it.

This wouldn't be as annoying if the message wouldn't constantly pop up with the request to pick an outgoing mail server (as it does when your server doesn't work when you send an email).

It's the weirdest thing I ever encountered and I cannot find any record of a similar problem on the internet.

I hope some one can help me out.
