What do you mean by carry on? Check out from where? Some more detail would maybe get you an answer.

no you do not have to take the Macbook out of the case. It does need to come out of any bag your keeping it in, but the hardshell case can stay on.

Ok thank you, I will make sure to pull it out of my bag. I just don't want them ripping off the outside case because usually if they find anything suspicious they wont let you assist them in any manner.
