if i install SL on my santa rosa mbp which is currently running tiger, and i hate it.. will i be able to reinstall tiger off of the disks that came with my computer?

Safest bet is to hook up an external drive via either USB or Firewire and run CCC (Carbon Copy Cloner) or SuperDuper! to create a bootable backup of your internal HD. Both are pretty good; CCC is free (but has a suggested $10 donation) and SD is shareware, but the free version has the key features available.

That way, if SL doesn't work out, all you have to do is restore from the clone rather than going through a Tiger reinstallation from scratch.
