It never scratched my PowerBook so no. Neoprene doesn't scratch metal. If it does there is a huge problem.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. The leather seam of my iPhone case made marks on the metal rim after a year. Constant rubbing day after day will eventually do some damage.

Having said that, people usually find cases scratching equipment due to dust particles (sand) trapped in between.
