Hey everyone, as well all know the incase slider unfortunately scratches the iphone back, inevitably defeating the purpose of the case. Since I won't be taking the phone out of the cause anymore I am considering taping off the back so that way it won't scratch when it's in the case, and if I choose to do so remove the case and still have a pristine phone.
What kind of tape would do the job, i.e. preventing new scratches as well as not leaving any residue? I'm guessing duct tape but I'm not too sure.

Also how about the bezel, is there enough space between the bezel and the slider to even allow some sort of tape?

I would put on some sort of invis. shield or the plastic that the iPhone comes in. Don't use DuctTape. Its probably too thick and will leave a sticky residue on the case. :apple:

What are you going to about the chrome bezel, because it scuffs it up too.

What are you thinking (or not)

You buy a case to prevent scratches > the case scratches the iphone > you jury rig it with tape to prevent the case from scratching it

LOL LOL LOL LOL

Any tape, especially duct tape will leave residue. The longer it is on the harder it will be to get off. Scotch brand painters tape for deicate surfaces, it is light blue, will come off easily with little residue. It is also much thinner than duct tape.

It's a ****ing phone. If you're never going to take off the case, you'll never notice that it'll get scratched. I run my phone caseless. The only reason I have Incase Slider Cases is cause I'm a cycler and I'm afraid if I fall, my phone will fall out of my pocket and the case will help it a little from getting too smashed up.

I gotta admit this was really funny, I sat back and looked at my argument and found it silly, but you have to understand my reasoning behind it. I used to go naked, and I would want the possibility to do so again in the future, but I like the carefree nature that comes along with having a case, so I am considering using one for a bit, hence buying the incase slider. Any case will leave scratches, and since I can't see the back of the phone with the case on, I wouldn't mind covering it up, again for the time being.

I got a roll of the clear adhesive backed plastic film for cars (pretty much like the invis. shield stuff) and cut it to fit the back of my phone. Its cheap and one roll has lasted me a few phones and ipods.
