Incoming Text messages don't show alert badge or notifications

The subject says it all.

iPhone 3GS on 4.0 w/ 05.13.04 BB

I've tried using BITEsms to see if it would alert me, but so far I literally have to go into Messages every 20 minutes to check and see if any new conversation has been updated with a text message - obviously not optimal.

Anyone else experienced something like this?

I have the same issue, however it is sporadically. I have lock info and springtomise installed on my phone, I don't know if this makes a difference.

This may seem a bit obvious (forgive me), but check Settings>Notifications>Messages and see if 'Badge App Icon' is enabled. May have been accidentally turned off.

Alternatively, try rebooting or resetting.

This is certainly not the case for me, because sometimes everything functions fine. Unless some strange bug turns the badge app icon setting on and off at will and without me seeing it.

messages doesn't even show up under notifications...
