I just installed the 4.2.1 update onto my iPad and I'm missing a lot of the features. For instance, the multitasking option is totally missing.

Also, my switch on the side which use to act as a screen lock (so that no matter how I held it the screen would stay in place) is now programed as a sound mute switch. This is annoying.

Any suggestions?

ok, the first part isnt normal. did you double click the home button?

and for the 2nd part, that's normal. it was changed.

Oh man, is there any way to change the function of the switch back to what it was? If not then this sucks. For real.

4.2.1 killed my ipad and iphone 4

After installing 4.2.1 on my iPhone, I had an incomplete install that just seemed frozen. I restarted and now it won't start up again and just causes iTunes to freeze. Tried it on my iPad and now I have two dead devices. I can't even restore. Both devices are stuck in black screen with white apple and progress bar and about 10 percent. Happy Thanksgiving. :(

You will need to put them into recovery mode, see if this article helps
