Incorrect free space reported on iOS4

After upgrading from 3 to iOS4 iTunes and iPhone both show 5 GB free.
The bar graph in iTunes shows only a small amount. I had 800MB before upgrading to iOS4.
I have already had 128 AAC turned on under both OS'.
Any ideas?
