A picture is worth a thousand words, so look below to know what I mean. It's the "Printers and Faxes" preferences' icon that's messed up. It's been like that for a while and I was hoping the 10.4.9 update would reset it but it didn't. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Close System Preferences, then look for a file called "com.apple.preferencepanes.cache"...it's in <your user directory>/Library/Caches. Drag it to your Desktop and then try opening System Preferences again. If all looks well, you can go ahead and trash the file you dragged to your Desktop.

Whoa! Thanks a lot! That completely did the trick :)
