I currently have a homebuilt Fusion Drive in my Late 2012 Mac Mini that I made myself with a 180GB SSD and the 1TB HDD that it originally shipped with. I have acquired a 500GB SSD and would like to replace the 180GB with it. I have one of these hardware hard drive cloning devices that I believe does a block-level clone. If I cloned with that could I just swap the SSD? I'm assuming not since the volume size would be off. Just curious if anyone has ever attempted before. If not, I'll just put the new SSD in, boot from an external drive and go through the steps of creating a new Fusion Drive. Thank you.
