iPod touch Increasing photo quality?

Has anyone tried the clearcam app on the iPod touch? It claims that it will incease megapixles by 2x. This would make the photos 1.4 MP. Does it make photos any clearer (does it actually work)? I would rather not buy it to find out that it doesn't work...

And yes, according to most people, it works great.
