I live in FL, in a house with metal struts. So the range of my airport express is limited. Can I do anything to increase the range of my airport?

The primary limiting factor on the range of your AE, even moreso than your home's metal framing, is the AE's location. It's important to have the AE in as central a location of your house as possible. Of course, this isn't always practical to do. In that case, I would recommend purchasing another AE, setting it up in WDS, and locating it midway between your current AE and the spot where you're having trouble picking up a signal. Do a search of the forum for setting up WDS. It's easy enough to do and it works great.

I wouldn't go as far as claiming it is easy (maybe I've just had bad luck). But once it is up and running, it works great.

Placing it as high up as possible in the room is generally a good idea. Less obstructions that way.
