Increasing text size in Mail (versus Zooming)

Is there a way to increase the text size in Mail versus the Zoom?

If I zoom out, I have to scroll left and right in addition to up and down to read everything. Just like a Safari web page.

I would like to just increase the text size and scroll only up and down and not have to scroll left and right.

Is there a way to do this?
