incredibly slow during paring/unraring

ok so i finally found a program for newsgroups so i dont need to run windows anymore .. but what i have noticed is that when the file is downloaded and i run an unrar and a par program to check the files and unrar them .. file size is normally around 8gb or so .. my mac pro crawls .. like if i try and open up firefox it literary hangs for a min or so .. never had this problem in my old windows machine.

my specs of my mac pro are in my sig. is it that the stock hd that it comes with is slow .. or is it something else

8GB rar files? That's going to take a LONG time to unpack, on ANY computer... I don't think your Mac Pro is the cause.

well the files themselves are 8gb .. so whatever that is rared .. never had this type of system slowdown on a pc .. maybe the 6gb of ram or the wd blue is th cause
