Incredibly Stupid Questions

1. Is there a way to do video chat with my friends who have msn (PC version)? I can download any new program I really dont mind. But there is not way I can make them switch to AIM or skype or wtv..

2. How do I know if the Mail app is "looking" new mail (when im not using it)? Is there a revolving wheel to know if its looking or not? (like ipod touches and iphones) Right now I open it and look for mail manually

3. Is it considered dangerous to travel with my ipod in sleep mode? Should i shut it down every time?

4. My printer is not seen by my macbook? What to do? (My moms non apple-laptop can see it without any problems..

5. Some pictures I use to have on my pc (.bmp) are not recognized by my mac..How do I convert them?

I actually wrote all these question on my stickies so I would remember them when I had the time to post lol.. I know LAME

1. As of now, No. Messenger for Mac isn't that evolved.
2. Click on Command-0 while Mail is open to engage that activity monitor.
3. My Mac/iPod haven't been shut down in ages....save for updates in Mac.
4. Printer details please.
5. Preplexed...never heard of that one before. Check with filenames and extensions.

Ya its sharing it.. my mom's laptop can print without any issues (pc)

So when you say it can't see it, how, exactly are you setting it up: we are all just guessing madly due to the lack of detail. Too much detail is better than too little.

You need a BMP converter, Above would maybe do trick. BMP is Bit map protocol, I think....

printer wise.

the first time I plugged in my printer I couldn't see it with the mac, I was annoyed especially because my mac owning friend said it "just works".

In the end, I just tried printing and it worked. It basically gave no indication it was working because it just starts working, I was expecting a "printer wizard"
