Indexing email from an old account?

I have an old Gmail account from a job I left a few years ago, that I don't have access to anymore. I'd like to be able to search for specific emails in that account, but for some reason they're not searchable anymore, even though they're all on my laptop and viewable from within the Mail app.

Why is that, and can I change it?
