I am running a Mac Book Pro, and am having issues with my External HD.

Every time I plug it in Spotlight says it is "indexing," but doesn't give a load time, it just indexes indefinitely. This prevents me from ejecting the darn thing as well.

I ran disk utility on my built in HD, and when that did not work I ran "fsck - fy", which cleaned the HD up. But the problem with the External HD still persists. Is there something corrupted in the actual external HD? Help pleeze.

Let it finish indexing, which may take a while. Once it's done, it will maintain the index without you noticing.
