Is one better than the other? A multi-bay one would free up USB ports n my mac, but I am a little cautious in that most do not have individual switches for each drive bay, so if I have a 4 bay enclosure with 4 drives in it, they are all powered on even if I am only using 1 or 2 form a little while, and fear a power outage, which happens every now and then in my area, would fry them.

With individual enclosures for each drive, I have lots of wires, and take up the few usb ports I have, and I find I accidentally bump the wires and cables, and end up unintentionally improperly ejecting my drives.

I want something that is stable and reliable, over speed, and has good heat dissipation, my work area gets fairly hot in the summer.

I am currently using a multitude of SATA SSD drives.

If this is a common occurrence, I would get a UPS.
Especially if it's a desktop Mac also.
