Yesterday, my 2013 rMBP 13 slid off a chair and onto the hard wooden floor (about a 2 foot drop). Laptop was closed, but when I turned it back on, I had the dreaded vertical lines (mostly black, some colors) down the extreme right side of the screen. It's actually not unusable as the lines are only maybe 1/2" wide near the right edge, but I guess the only remedy is a screen replacement.

So far the prices for replacement displays seem to be >=$400 or so on Amazon and some of the repair sites (ifixit is $600). Which seems like a poor deal when I can get a whole laptop for ~$550 on eBay. Does anybody know of less expensive solutions? Also, I assume any A1502 display will work (no difference from 2012-2015)?

(I also trawled eBay's parts quality laptops, most of those have busted displays which doesn't help either.)

You may be able to find the assembly on eBay for a reasonable price, if not you could try buying a dead laptop and harvesting the screen from it.

I just had to do the same for my 2012 15 rmbp.... I found an grade A screen from l2repair ever at eBay. it was a little more than I wanted to spend, but the screen and back are perfect. wifi/camera cables work 100% as well.
when looking at their site (non-bay) I saw 13 inch displays as well and they were around 3-4 hundred bucks if I remember. if you go for the grade A displays, and If the quality is like the one I got, you will be happy and satisfied.
They also said, upon receipt if I was unhappy they would exchange/refund. seems like a good seller

Also purchased a display for a mid 2012 non retina 13 “ MBP on eBay. Was fortunate to snag one in pristine condition.
